1992 — A Legacy in Song
November 1992 — 2025
What began in November 1992 as a family-led effort to recognize and encourage singers, groups, songwriters, song leaders, and others who helped advance Christian a cappella music among the churches of Christ, grew into something far greater than we could have imagined.
CAMA was never simply an awards program. It became a gathering place — a celebration of faith, fellowship, sacrifice, artistry, and shared devotion to worshiping God in song. Through the years, we witnessed unforgettable performances, honored remarkable servants, encouraged emerging talent, and celebrated a musical heritage that has blessed congregations for generations.
The music does not end. The ministry does not end. The legacy does not end. The songs will continue in our congregations, in our homes, in our hearts, and in the generations yet to come.
CAMA existed because of a shared conviction: that the gifts God placed within His people should be encouraged, preserved, and celebrated in a manner that honors Him. For more than three decades, we sought to do that with sincerity and love.
To every person whose name should have been mentioned but was not — please accept our sincere apology. Your labor, kindness, support, prayers, and contributions have not been forgotten.
After much prayer, reflection, and heartfelt consideration, I write to share that the Christian Acappella Music Awards — CAMA — will come to a close.

CAMA was never simply an awards program. It became a gathering place. It became a celebration of faith, fellowship, sacrifice, artistry, and shared devotion to worshiping God in song. Through the years, we witnessed unforgettable performances, honored remarkable servants, encouraged emerging talent, and celebrated a musical heritage that has blessed congregations for generations.
The past several years, however, have been especially difficult. Many have endured the loss of loved ones, health challenges, financial pressures, employment concerns, strained relationships, and burdens that words cannot fully express. The world of music and live production has also faced rising costs, changing platforms, and growing limitations that have made continuing this work increasingly difficult.
Their love, encouragement, sacrifice, and presence were woven into the life of CAMA in ways that can never be fully measured. I carry their memory with me in this farewell.
My sincere gratitude also goes to Essej, Dorian, Joi, the Malones, Church, Chris, Elijah, Frank, Roxy, Tim, Kelly, Roz, Daryl, Shane, Monty and Tavairy; and to the many artists, songwriters, song leaders, musicians, volunteers, and supporters whose contributions helped make CAMA what it became.
I am equally thankful for the encouragement and support of many gospel preachers and church leaders, including Jesse Tolliver, Wes Leonard, Corey Glover, Alvin Daniels, Charlie McClendon, and so many others who stood with us, prayed for us, supported the vision, and affirmed the value of this work.
Of course, once one begins naming names, it becomes impossible to name everyone who deserves to be acknowledged. To any person whose name should have been mentioned but was not, please accept my sincere apology. Your labor, kindness, support, prayers, and contributions have not been forgotten.

While this chapter is now coming to an end, the music does not end. The ministry does not end. The legacy does not end. The songs will continue in our congregations, in our homes, in our hearts, and in the generations yet to come.
To every artist who sang, every writer who composed, every congregation that attended, every family that traveled, every donor who gave, every volunteer who served, and every person who believed in the vision of CAMA:
Thank you.
Thank you for your trust.
Thank you for your patience.
Thank you for your encouragement.
Thank you for allowing CAMA to be part of your journey.
May God continue to bless the Christian a cappella community, the churches of Christ, and all who labor to lift up the name of Jesus through faithful song and service.
For each of you who registered early during the campaigns — you will be refunded in full by July 1st. It would be helpful if you would be willing to send me your name or company name and an address to remit your refund to.
